The Audi Quattro, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1980, fundamentally transformed the perception of conventional 4WD vehicles, previously viewed as heavy, powerful off-road machines. While its body style largely resembled the Audi Coupe, it was distinguished by blister-type over fenders and prominent spoilers at the front and rear, powerfully asserting its high-performance capabilities. It radiated an unprecedented commanding presence for an Audi vehicle of that era. A key innovation was its full-time 4WD system, which featured a centre differential in addition to the front and rear differential gears.
