The M40 was the final development of the American self-propelled gun during World War II. Based on a widened M4 Sherman chassis, it mounted a huge 155mm cannon nicknamed the "Long Tom". While it arrived too late for significant service in WWII, the M40 demonstrated its tremendous power during the Korean War, providing long-range indirect fire support against enemy positions from distances of over 23 kilometres, a vital asset for ground troops.

This 1/35 scale Tamiya kit is an expressive and highly detailed reproduction of the M40. The open-topped fighting compartment is precisely recreated, and the massive 155mm cannon can be elevated and traversed. To create a complete diorama straight from the box, a full crew of eight soldiers in firing preparation poses is included, along with shell racks and ammunition. Photo-etched parts and easy-to-use belt-type tracks complete this stunning kit.
