The F4U Corsair was a legendary American fighter, distinguished by its iconic inverted gull wing. The F4U-1 was the first mass-produced version and featured a characteristic framed canopy referred to as a "Birdcage." A rare nightfighter version, the F4U-2, was also created, featuring a radar pod on the right wing. Deployed to the Pacific in 1943, the Corsair was feared by Japanese forces for its speed and firepower.
This 1/48 scale kit from Tamiya is a detailed replica that allows the modeller to build either the standard F4U-1 day fighter or the F4U-2 nightfighter. The model features a highly detailed engine and cockpit, a seated pilot figure, a choice of ordnance, and four different marking options.
