Description

The M3 "General Stuart" was one of the most important Allied light tanks of the Second World War. It was well-liked by its crews for being thoroughly reliable, quick, and manoeuvrable. Developed to replace the earlier M2, the M3 featured thicker armour and an improved suspension. The M3A1 variant further enhanced the design with the addition of a power-traverse turret with a crew basket and a gyrostabiliser for the 37mm main gun. The Stuart served extensively with U.S. forces and was also supplied in large numbers to Allied armies, including the British, who designated the M3A1 as the "Stuart IV", and the Soviet Union.
