The M113 Armoured Cavalry Assault Vehicle (ACAV) was an up-gunned and up-armoured variant of the ubiquitous M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier, developed specifically for the demands of the Vietnam War. Nicknamed the "Battle Wagon," the ACAV modifications added a protective gun shield for the commander's .50 calibre M2 machine gun and two additional M60 machine guns with shields at the rear hatches, transforming the humble troop transport into a potent fighting vehicle.
