The Tamiya Avante Black Special is a limited-edition re-release of a true RC icon. This special version of the Avante, originally released to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Tamiya R/C car products, sports a distinctive black carbon fibre colour scheme inspired by its Mini 4WD cousin. The Avante Black Special features a unique shaft-driven 4WD system, taken from Tamiya's first 4WD R/C buggy, the Hotshot. This sophisticated design includes an FRP double-deck chassis layout, longitudinal motor and battery positions, and a formula-type body with chassis fairing.

The Avante Black Special is equipped with a range of innovative components, including a compact gearbox with three small planetary gears, a centre differential for increased stability, a fully adjustable suspension, and cam-lock wheel caps. This modern specification also features updates like universal drive-shafts and machined aluminium uprights, enhancing the car's durability and performance compared to the original.
