Tamiya has accurately replicated the 1980s Volkswagen Golf MK2 GTI 16V — a popular hot hatchback of the decade — as a rally car for A7 class competition. The body is built on the versatile MF-01X chassis, which is suitable for both asphalt and flat dirt terrain. This compact 4WD chassis is built around a durable monocoque frame with integrated gearboxes. Its rear-mounted motor, gear-driven rear wheels, and propeller shaft make it suitable for both flat dirt surfaces and roads. Power from the rear-mounted motor is delivered by gear to the rear diff, and via propeller shaft to the front. The monocoque frame is divided into 3 pieces — change the central spacer block and fit a separately-sold prop shaft for S (210mm), M (225mm), or L (239mm) wheelbase.

Adjustable Wheelbase

The versatile monocoque frame allows you to adjust the wheelbase to suit your driving preferences. By changing the central spacer block and installing a separately sold prop shaft, you can choose between short (210mm), medium (225mm), or long (239mm) wheelbase configurations.

4 Wheel Independent Double Wishbone Suspension

The double wishbone suspension, both front and rear, delivers fantastic handling and off-road performance. The tough uprights and hub carriers on the front ensure durability, while friction shock absorbers on the rear provide effective damping action.

Rear Mounted Motor

The motor is strategically mounted at the rear of the monocoque frame, providing direct power to the rear wheels via gears. A propeller shaft extends to the front wheels, creating an efficient 4WD system for better traction and control.

This kit comes without an Electronic Speed Control (ESC). The body shell is completely unpainted and may or may not require body post holes to be drilled. Only use polycarbonate-safe paint such as the Tamiya PS series to finish the body shell, as standard paints will not adhere and/or may cause damage to the body shell surface.
