The Tamiya Volkswagen MK2 GTI 16V is a 1/10 scale RC replica of the popular 1980s hot hatchback, now reimagined as a rally car ready for A7 class competition. This model faithfully captures the iconic design of the MK2 GTI 16V, bringing a classic hot hatch to life in a fun and exciting way. The detailed polycarbonate body is paired with the versatile MF-01X chassis, which is equally capable on asphalt and flat dirt terrain. The MF-01X features a durable monocoque frame with integrated gearboxes, a rear-mounted motor, and 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension for responsive handling and control. Whether you're tackling rally stages or cruising the streets, the Tamiya Volkswagen MK2 GTI 16V delivers a thrilling RC experience.
The versatile monocoque frame allows you to adjust the wheelbase to suit your driving preferences. By changing the central spacer block and installing a separately sold prop shaft, you can choose between short (210mm), medium (225mm), or long (239mm) wheelbase configurations.
The double wishbone suspension, both front and rear, delivers fantastic handling and off-road performance. The tough uprights and hub carriers on the front ensure durability, while friction shock absorbers on the rear provide effective damping action.
The motor is strategically mounted at the rear of the monocoque frame, providing direct power to the rear wheels via gears. A propeller shaft extends to the front wheels, creating an efficient 4WD system for better traction and control.
