The USS Langley began its life as the collier USS Jupiter before being converted into the United States Navy's first-ever aircraft carrier, CV-1, in 1922. In this pioneering role, she was an invaluable testbed for naval aviation, training pilots and developing the carrier tactics that would define the future. In 1936, she was converted again into a seaplane carrier, designated AV-3.

This 1/350 scale model from Trumpeter represents the USS Langley in its historic World War II-era AV-3 configuration. This is a highly detailed kit with over 540 parts, featuring a one-piece hull, detailed flight and hangar decks, and four extensive photo-etched frets. The kit also includes six P2Y seaplane models to populate the deck.
